This is admittedly where some frustration can sneak in. When you respawn with a new character it's up to you to decide to hunt down your old gear or not from your now zombified previous character. While you don't lose any progress in the story, when your character dies they take your gear with them. Another one of Zombi's great features is the permadeath mechanic, which in a sense makes the game part roguelike. Zombies can take some damage before going down and if you die that's it. In Zombi however, even one-on-one encounters with the undead can be dangerous if you aren't careful. So many zombie games make it easy to blow your way through big groups. It's nice to see a zombie game that takes it's undead hordes seriously. Onto what makes Zombi so great in the first place. Well, enough about the differences from the Wii U version for now. ![]() The only thing missing from Zombi due to the switch to one-screen is the local multiplayer option, which wasn't all that exciting anyway. Seeing all of ZombiU's functions move so flawlessly and naturally over like this makes me wonder what all the fuss in regards to ZombiU's two-screen system was all about. In Zombi all the action takes place on one screen. It was an integral part of the experience. The game was basically built around it and that's part of what helped set it apart from other zombie games. One of the key selling points of ZombiU when it first released was how it took advantage of the Wii U's two screen experience. Mix in some new additions and you've got a port that manages to narrowly outshine it's Wii U counterpart. While the title's often frustrating issues are still present, it's good ideas still shine through to make for an excellent experience for zombie fanatics. It's a real treat for hardcore zombie fans.
